Gansbaai is one of South Africa’s most exciting marine wildlife destinations. Sightings vary daily and can never be guaranteed, but depending on the season and conditions, you may have the opportunity to see:

- Great white sharks, although sightings are currently rare and unpredictable
- Bryde’s whales, which may be seen year-round

Recent shark sightings in our area have mainly featured bronze whaler sharks, averaging approximately 3–3.5 metres. These beautiful, active sharks offer excellent viewing from both the cage and the boat.
Hookah Shark Cage Diving Experience
Your day begins at White Shark Diving Company in Kleinbaai, Gansbaai. After arrival, registration and refreshments, our team will provide a full safety briefing and explain how the hookah air-supply system works.
The hookah system allows divers to breathe from an onboard air supply through a simple mouthpiece while safely inside the cage. There are no scuba tanks, no heavy diving equipment, and no scuba certification required.
Divers enter the cage in supervised rotations. The exact time spent in the cage and the number of rotations vary depending on shark activity, sea conditions and operational requirements. When you are not in the cage, you can enjoy excellent shark viewing from the boat.
Big 5 Sea Safari Experience
After your shark cage diving trip, you’ll continue to the Big 5 Sea Safari portion of the day.
Launching from the scenic Gansbaai / Walker Bay area, this boat-based marine safari focuses on searching for the region’s incredible coastal wildlife. Your guides will share insight into the animals, the ecosystem and the natural behaviours you may observe along the route.
